October Sunset....

October Hunting in the River Beds of Indiana.

The Big One !

OK, we didn't "find" this one...at least not in a place where we could claim it. It was in someones front yard. It was something of two feet in diameter. We never did see one this big in the river bed.

The treasures were to be found by the hundreds....

Walls of Fossils and Geodes

You can pull amazing things right out of the walls of the dry river bed...A wonderful hunt!

...the pounds are adding up...

When we found one we wanted  we would sit it on a log or off to the side and then pick it up on the way back...Sandy and I each carried about fifty pounds of rock back to the truck!

...another find....

The Snakes and Smoking Guns of Southern Indiana....

I would later be asked by Marvin, " You didn't worry about being shot?" "By who?", I asked. "By the folks that have "cash crops" in that area." Another would ask me if I, "...didn't worry about the rattle snake and copper heads in the river beds that far south in Indiana?"....Probably my last hunt!

The River Beds are dry from the Summer Drought....makes for easy hunt!!

Cool roots....
